Sick day ... sort of

Sort of because I'll still be working from home some. My eye is swollen and icky. Guess I shouldn't have gone off on a mad eyelash-plucking tirade. An infected swollen eye is the worst!

Hell's Kitchen comment. I'm sad that Ji is gone. I thought she was a contender for winning the whole thing.

SICK DAY CARBs
[ 1g ] cheddar
[ 0 ] bacon
[ 1g ] LC peanut butter - Cro said it was hard to find. Almost all of the peanut butter is gone from the shelves. Must be the Georgia peanut poisoning scare ... but I thought that only effected crackers and cookies etc. I guess if I get salmonella I'll know differently ... but I'm pretty sure the news said that jars of peanut butter were not effected. This article says Smart Balance isn't effected. Yay.
-----
[ 2g ] two kosher dogs
[ 3g ] 1/2 mushroom cap and beef and cheese mixture
[ 5g ] LC ice cream
-----
[ 4g ] LC chili! so good!
[ 0 ] pork rinds
[ 2g ] cream cheese
[ 5g ] LC ice cream
[ 2g ] LC peanut butter
TOTAL 25 carbs

  1. Ouch! hope your eye gets better today. Did you really pluck your eyelashes out? That must have hurt something terrible!

  2. I did! And I'll never do that again. My eye is pink and swollen and not happy at all with what I did to it.

  3. Man... I routinely get the eyebrows waxed and I recently started getting my face waxed (upper lip and side burns) and I can not fathom how angry my eyelids would be if I plucked the hairs from there.

I honestly can't think of anything to make them feel better... so I'll say "Maybe if you apologize to your eye, it'll forgive you and make you less miserable."

    Couldn't hurt, right?

Take care, get better, stay away from the Salmonellies... They SUCK!!! I haven't had food poisoning in years but I remember it quite well.

  4. the eyelids were pissed off before I was driven to pluck out the eyelashes ... and now, RAWR!!! owy

you had salmonella in the past? I don't plan to get it!. That must have been bad for you to go through. :(

  5. If your eye doesn't start to get better right away, you should go to the eye doctor. They can give you an antibiotic gel or drop. Please don't risk your eyes!

And call before the end of today so you're not having to try to reach someone on the weekend!!!

  6. Thanks Graciela. I think I'm going to live ... it is less aggravated than it has been for the last couple of days. Still bad enough that I can't believe I did that, but not scary bad any longer. Cro told me to use a q-tip to put hydrogen peroxide around the edge (I was so sure it was going to burn!) It bubbled a lot, but didn't burn really.

  9. Deborah - you are funny. :) feel better because I'm starting too!

Twisted - I'm glad you enjoyed the links. You'll make it into your new way of eating and be even better for it! I keep reading how the reward of feeling better makes all the roadblocks manageable. You will be an expert soon and from experiencing how you gave so much to the LC community I know that you are going to be such a great asset to others who are learning to live well with similar rules. You are so inspiring!

  10. I'm glad your eye is better. I just had eye surgery so I'm probably a bit overly cautious about making sure nothing goes wrong. Take care.

  12. Graciela - I hope your surgery went well! I know what you mean about being overly cautious of the eyes. Since I have MS I'm very aware that some people go blind with this disease. I'm also in the visual communications field so my eyes are my "bread" and butter. Though I really can't think of a career in which the eyes are not very important. Thanks for the well wishes! Things are clearly on the mend.

Harry - You cracked me up. Eye'm feeling better and smiling because of your post. :)

  13. I too, am still saddened by Ji's decision. It was a real noble decision though, that left me in awe yet sad. I really hope that they would bring her back to the show because she showed how dedicated she is by soldiering through the evening with an injured ankle. I found that she has a website, http://www.chefji.com with photos and you can email and even vote as to whether to have her back to the show.
