Wayward Pines

After Cro and I watched the Wayward Pines television mini-series I wanted to read the books, thinking that they might have more of the story and be better. I've been reading the trilogy by Blake Crouch and so far, yep, better.

The books are much deeper and creepier than the television series mostly because you can read the internal dialog which is more difficult and often left out on film. For example, the books get you into the head of the main character and what it's like for him to have sex with his wife when he knows a camera oversees everything. He has the turmoil of not wanting to make his wife feel rejected while at the same time not wanting her to be exposed. The books let you experience his feelings of guilt and inner struggle when he allows it to happen and what it is like to have to keep such a secret. If he were to tell her, she would very likely be killed.

Hopefully I haven't spoiled anything for you. It's turning out to be a better read than the television series led me to believe it would be.
